Interview

So the interview with the International Enemies happened and it....kinda sucked. I finally met with the three people who worked in the office along with one of the people who interviewed me last week. Once agian it was very formal questions. No chitchat. No offering up information to the interviewee. Just ask questions and write down answers. And once again the questions were of the crappy "so tell me what you'd do if community members ask your organization to take on project antithetical to your organization's mission?" Um...tell them that what they are asking for is against the organization's mission? What the hell kind of answer do you want? It's hard not to completely babble when the person on the other end is just writing everything down and not able to TALK with you.

And then it hits me. The guy from the first interview DOESN'T LIKE ME. I answer another one of the bullshitty questions in a somewhat bullshitty way and he tells me "I don't think you understand. We are looking for SPECIFIC EXAMPLES of how you told community members you couldn't take on that project." First of all asshole, my organization is pretty damn clear about it's mission. We have a workplan. We get grants to do thing. We do the workplan. We aren't bombarded with cranky people wondering why we aren't doing XYZ. SECOND OF ALL, what the hell kind of organization are you running where this is a regular thing?

I can tell the other people would like to talk. Tell me about how things are and asking me questions that don't come stright from some godforsaken manual. And two of them walk out we talk about our work in immigrant rights. It's fun and comfortable. I like them and they like me. But considering the person who doesn't like me would be my supervisor, I would be surprised to get called back.

Here's hoping that Brownwar likes me because I was thinking about sending more resumes and it made me cry.
