Dude, I probably lost every reader I have not updating for almost a month. On the job front ALL of the places I applied for and got second interviews rejected me. I was particularly sad abouot Brownwar because I really liked the people and thought I kicked ass on the interview. Instead they went with someone with 10 years of organizing experience in the environmental movement. What the fuck ever. It still stings.

Anyway, preparing for a Fourth of July where my family and mr. Activision's parents will be in town. And for the third time in ly life, I will be hiring a housecleaner. Her name is Shirley. She rocks. She cleaned our apartment before the wedding and I swear to god that was the main reason why I was sane.

So I saw Michael Moore being interview by some evil corporate morning news bitch this morning. She was horrible. She's all like "so your documentary has a point of view.." Well DUH. Asshole. She continually tries to score cheap points with Michael Moore, calling his movie propoganda and then quoting "critics" of his movie. In fact she says that along with the great reviews the movie has been getting there have been critical reviews. And she proceeds to quote Christopher Hitchens. Now, I don't think Christopher Hitchens opinion counts for jack shit in the case because his review is based on IDEALOGY and ENTERTAINMENT VALUE, which is why you go see a movie.

The true kicker is the whole propoganda statement, to which Michael Moore responds "And the CBS Evening News isn't?" SCORE. And so Hannah Fucking Storm (whose news experience has been in SPORTSCASTING) says, "We try to be fair and balanced." And here's why verucaamish loses his shit. FAIR AND BALANCED ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Kind of like in a Wrinkle in Time where "equal and alike are not the same." You see, dear reader, the idea of "balance," presenting the other side, allows for a whole lot of hooey. It's fair to report the truth. It's fair to report facts. So therefore, if an opposing viewpoint is flat out wrong, you can't be fair AND balanced. For example, when you're reporting on the shape of the Earth, it's silly and useless and UNFAIR to give credence to the viewpoint that the Earth is flat. Take another example, if you are talking about lynching, do you give equal time to the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan?

In the name of balance, the press is giving credence to viewpoints not based in truth or reality. Is that really fair that some crackpot gets as much time as someone whose view is based in the scientific process? Whose work has been rigorously reviewed and evaluated? Is it fair that right wing organizations come up with "research" about emergency contraception increasing teenage sexual activity while Planned Parenthood and the Alan Guttmacher Institute have to rigorously evaluate and researach the fficacy of their programs? And they BOTH get equal time? Morever, is it fair to report that there is a link between Iraq and Al Quaeda?

Sorry folks, I don't want balance. I want FACTS. I want information based in reality.

And finally, FUCK YOU Hannah Storm. Go back to covering football.
