So our office manager who’s been at the organization since God was a child left this weekend. Just left. No warning. No transition. Just left. You see she got sick of her crazy, agoraphobic, e-bay addicted husband who was emptying their joint bank account faster than the Daytona 500. She is now driving cross-country to live with her child molesting (CONVICTED!), cancer stricken lover.

Enough work stuff.

I was reading Dan’s entry on Pamie’s website about karma. Go read it. I’ve always had this dark fear that I shared karma with different people. For a long time I thought I shared relationship karma with my friend Tom. For some reason, we never both were dating someone at the same time. As soon as my relationship would go sour, he would meet this cool guy and vice versa. I haven’t seen Tom in years and I am afraid my marriage is committing him to a life of loneliness. I’ve had this deathly fear I’m sharing job karma with mr. Activision. I’m trying to think if mr. Activision and I have ever both held jobs we loved at the same time. I can’t think of any instance. And right now he’s head honcho of his job while mine is turning into the seventh level of hell.

Speaking of bizaare theories. I’ve always had a bizarre theory about how you stay in a job. It’s my theory of 2/3rds. In order to stay in a job, you have to have at least two of three things: a great salary, work you really enjoy, and great people to work with. As long as you have two of the three, you can stay in a job. I also have a 2/3rd plan for life where if you have two of the three elements for a contented life, you are happy: a great job, a great relationship, a great group of friends. I allow for halves in both systems. Because sometimes the pay isn’t great but you aren’t having to live on rice and beans every night. Or sometimes there are irritating people in your group of friends, but you love them anyway.

Either way you need at least 2 out of 3.
