In other news, I found out that two of the people I completely trashed in my interview with the PhD lady were also interviewed by her. Small world.
One thing that I talked about in my final interview with PhD lady was about our society's inability to deal with the physical. I was asked what role does sexuality play in politics and I said it was bigger than that. It's not just about how we express ourselves sexually. It's how we use our bodies and own our bodies. For example, when welfare moms were initally trashed in the 1980's, the big outrage was that they used their food stamps TO BUY STEAK. People used that image to change policy to make sure the people who had less were penalized for having less. But it started with outrage over A STEAK. Isn't that such the stereotype though? Poor, fat and lazy. Look at all of the members of Congress and CEOs - FAT FAT FAT. But because they are rich, they won't be considered lazy. And because they are rich, they get to put whatever they want into their bodies without being judged.
