2004-08-25 - 11:45 a.m. God I can't stop thinking about gymanstics. You know what I go to sleep to? Those eight minutes of people jeering the judges and classy classy Alexei Nemov looking humbled and grateful for the support. Even classier when he asks the audience to calm down so that Paul Hamm could do his routine. For one brief shining moment the world was united in its hatred for gymanstics judges. The AMERICAN commentators were bitching about it. When you saw the crowd shots you could see people with American flags giving the judges a thumbs down. Bitchface 2.0, aka Svetlana Khorkina (she who puts the whore in Khorkina) could use a lesson in graciousness from Sexy Alexei. Because could Bitchface 2.0 point out ONE INSTANCE where she was undermarked? At least with the damn SOuth Koreans they have a specific concern as opposed to a general" the judges hate us." Another person who could take a lesson (along with the Koreans) is Paul Hamm. I hate this whole embattled routine. For one thing, noone is questioning his fair play or his abilities. They aren't even questioning his routine (for the most part). They are questioning the JUDGING. I'm conflicted about this because I'd like for people to just get on with it but I also think about Salt Lake City and figure skating. Do we just accept bad judging and just let the record stand? I certainly couldn't when Jaime and David got robbed. Why do I expect differently in this case? The hard thing about this is that it seems to be a free for all now. THe Canadians, Hungarians, Russians, Koreans and Khorkina's ego are all piling on in the big judge smackdown. Everyone seems to have a beef with the judges now. And that's where I feel it's different that Salt Lake. Thank god for boxing, right?
