Please Don't Cross the Line
I am writing this to make people feel guilty. I am apologetically and abashedly self righteous. I know people have lives and need convenience. But when people are picketing Safeway so that they can get health insurance, please don't cross the line. It's because of people who are picketing Safeway that we have overtime and 40 hour weeks. It's because of people who picket that we have weekends. And now they are fighting to make sure they get to keep their health insurance. They are out in the cold because a corporation posting $3.1 billion in profits says it can't afford health insurance. I want to make sure they win their battle because I want to make sure I never have to be denied health insurance. Because if people who work at Safeway don't get health insurance, what makes you think YOUR job will keep it if it means the CEO can make a few extra bucks?
