How to make verucaamish cry...

So I finally saw Farenheit 911. And I was bawling like a baby before the opening credits. No really. The woman with the dead son didn't make me cry (although my mother in law was boo hooing on that one). Neither did the 9-11 shots of people devastated. But you know what pushed me over the edge? All of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus trying to speak out on the stolen election of 2000. Tears were streaming down my face when I saw Cynthia McKinney and Adolphus Towns and Jesse Jackson Jr. come up to talk about the horrible disenfranchisement of voters (and voters of COLOR no less). But then huge racking sobs took over my body as my Golden Sister Patsy Mink came to testify. And then I started crying NOISILY when Maxine Waters was told that she needed the signature of a Senator to file her petition and she responded by saying "I don't care about the damn signatures." It was such a distillation of what's wrong in America for me. Not a single damn senator signed the petition of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus. Not one fucking Senator could stand for the rights of people to have their goddamn vote counted. Not even Paul Wellstone. Did power mean that much that they were willing to sell out the people of color in the House? Was playing nice so important to Sens. Akaka and Inouye that they sold out the coolest Golden Sister ever to grace the halls of Congress? People of color stuck their necks out for Al Gore, and he told them to shut their traps. What was that about America being beyond racism?
